Stanford Saplingathlon

Josh and Micah participated in the Stanford Saplingathlon today. It was their first duathlon. I loved watching their faces throughout the event - concentration, determination, amazement, delight and celebration. They felt so accomplished just participating! So fun!

The Stinking Rose

For my birthday, Jim took us out to dinner at The Stinking Rose. All the food there has garlic in it! So yummy.

Pneumonia

Our third family member now has Pneumonia. First Josh, then Jim and now Micah. Poor guys. Micah just started his round of meds, hopefully he will respond to them as quickly as Josh did. At this point Micah thinks Pneumonia is going to be great - because he has big visions of watching movies around the clock! Little does he know he is about to be sent to bed for a long nap instead!

Point Reyes, Part III

Point Reyes, CA Part II

Here are some shots of the wildlife we saw on our trip to Point Reyes.

We spotted this guy on our drive up. I don't think I've ever seen a horse with blue eyes. Not that I'm a horse person, so I wouldn't really know. But don't you think this eye is wild? It kinda looks human and it's slightly disturbing.
This guy is an elephant seal. Aren't they funny? Oh, and they are huge.

Cows. Oh, how I love cows! It is a good day when you get to see a cow. Point Reyes is dotted with old historic farms that are still working cattle farms. I think I could spend the rest of my life on a farm in Point Reyes.

She was beautiful. I took a picture of her cute little knobby knees too - but it didn't make it into the post.

But this guy was my most favorite. Grey whales migrating south. It was hard to capture a good picture, but we got to see about five whales spouting - or whatever it's called. AWE-some. We all just stood in awe of these great animals. We hope to make it back up there in March when they are migrating north with their babies.

Point Reyes, CA

After being woken up by the boys on Saturday, we headed north to Point Reyes. Jim describes it like taking a trip to Ireland - green rolling hills with high cliffs dropping into the ocean. It is breathtaking. I loved all the textures and colors revealed after years of being battered by the harsh elements.

Birthday Gifts

We celebrated my birthday on Saturday. The boys woke me up in the morning with these gifts. Handmade paper boats. I love them. They each wrote notes on the boats and folded them with care. I love gifts like this - given from the heart. Thank you Josh and Micah!
