A Night to Remember

Every once in awhile I am utterly overwhelmed by the blessings in my life. Every once in awhile a moment comes along, that I don't ever want to end. Every once in awhile I turn into a puddle of "happy tears." I just had one of these nights. Jim and the boys surprised me with a date night - prompted by Josh. I was sent to my room and given a chance to read while a flurry of activity was happening in the kitchen. When I was summoned this is what I found:

My sweet husband sitting at a candle lit table. (I love the un-ironed tablecloth falling onto the floor). The boys each decorated place mats for the table.

These were the waiters for the evening. (Cutest waiters I have ever had!)
This was the schedule for the night that Josh and Micah worked from. They kept it in the kitchen and checked off (and starred) each item as they were completed. The boys waited for cues from Jim on when to come in with the next coarse. The flurry of activity in the kitchen was Jim cooking dinner and the boys making cookies -ALL ON THEIR OWN. I have to say, they were the best oatmeal raisin cookies I've ever had. Amazing.

This is the aftermath in the kitchen. (It was such a special night that even the mess was endearing to me.)
Thank you, boys, for an evening I will always remember!
