Before school got out, Micah and I had a chance to visit a few of the nearby farms. Hidden Villa is an educational farm with flower gardens, vegetable gardens and a variety of animals. I went a little overboard with pictures...

Preschool Graduation

I'm still surprised that preschools have graduations. The only graduations I had were high school and college. But none the less, Micah's school had a graduation ceremony to recognize the end of a season and look ahead with excitement toward the next step. The kids sang a sweet little song about growing up. It was a fun night and Micah felt celebrated.

Sack Race

In celebration of finishing preschool Micah's school held a picnic in the park. One of the highlights was watching the kids do a potato sack race. It was especially fun watching Micah do the sack race. In classic Micah form he brought his own approach to the race and literally "ran" inside his sack. So, as all the other kids "hopped" their way to the finish line, Micah quickly took the lead. He didn't realize he was doing it the "wrong" way until the very end, at which point he snuck about 3 actual "hops" in before crossing the finish line! The expressions on his face told the whole story.What a great start! I'm in the lead!

End Of The Season

Josh just finished his first season of coach pitch little league baseball with Jim as his head coach. After months of practicing in our front yard Josh was super pumped to try out baseball. Unfortunately, he took 2 balls in the face during the beginning of the season and seemed to enter into some kind of a "slump." Frustration set in. Josh questioned if he even wanted to play. We questioned starting kids this young in sports. We longed for it to be fun and relaxed. In time, with practice, courage and endurance Josh found his game again. His smile returned and so did the fun. Practicing in the yard continues to be a highlight in both Jim and Josh's day. The season certainly had moments of frustration as well as moments of triumph. Mostly, I just think Jim and Josh were glad to share in those moments together.

Mama's and Scrap

We went on a little journey up to the city this weekend to visit two spots we heard were worth visiting. The first stop was Mama's for breakfast. The line started inside the restaurant, wound around the corner and stretched half way up the block. I stood in line as Jim and the boys played across the street at Washington Park. It was worth the wait.

Next we headed to SCRAP. I'm not even sure how to describe it. I guess you would say it's an art surplus store of sorts. It's housed in an old warehouse and completely run on donations. Everything there has been donated and the inventory is changing all the time. Depending on when you go, you can really find some awesome stuff for a great price.

Doodle 4 Google

Josh entered the Doodle 4 Google contest this year. The theme was "If I could do anything, I would..." Josh titled his piece "The Lucky Day!" He said if he could do anything he would "find buried treasure because that would be really cool." The winner of the contest had their Doodle displayed on Google's Home Page a few days ago. Josh's picture wasn't selected as a finalist - but I think he did such an awesome job! I love it! Josh I'm proud of you for having a dream, working hard and going for it. You are amazing.

The other day, just after I made Micah mad, he started counting by 1,ooo's.

Micah: 9,000, 10,000... what comes after 10,000?
Mama: 11,000
Micah: Mom, that makes 11,000 times you have annoyed me!
